My time in New Zealand has been a huge learning experience. I've learned
sometimes you have to adjust your expectations
it's OK to ask questions about things you don't understand
how it feels to be foreign, new, strange, and different
that I don't like cold, rainy weather
to read more than the guidebooks before you move to a new place
that sometimes you have to give something up to discover something new
how to drive on the left-hand side of the road
that I like lamb more than I thought
that I need my friends and family closer than I thought
that it is possible to hear bagpipes in the South Pacific
when in doubt, always carry an umbrella
I've loved reading your blog, as an expat Kiwi living in Australia. Makes me all nostalgic!
