Life in New Zealand consists of a long list of opposites (for those of us from the northern hemisphere) and contradictions. Among others, these include driving on the left hand side of the road, light switches where the down position is on, cold weather from the south direction, Christmas in the Summer, icy winds and burning sunshine, sheep pastures and tropical flowers, abundant local fresh fruit and vegetables that are shipped overseas, beautiful white sand beaches along freeing cold ocean, water shortages but no home water meters, flightless nocturnal parrots…..
Over the course of the next year I hope to expand on many of these topics.
